Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to represent examples of reading in the works of an Iranian author- Mostafa Mastor- and to study the place of reading and study in his works.
Method: This article is written in a documentary style and in library studies and quotes evidence from the text of the Mastor’s stories.
Findings: The way to address the reading subject in the works of Mastor’s is in two ways: a direct reference to the reading and the act of reading by characters of the story, and the other is an indirect reference to reading and using the book to advance the story or describe the scene. Each of these two methods is effective in its own right, and it can be said that the author has shown the presence of the book and the importance of "reading" in his works.
Results: The study shows  the presence of "book" in the course of Mastor's stories. In addition to reading importance in Mastor's view, that "book" and "reading" are ongoing in life. The stories carry their natural line, without any exaggeration and pretense, and without slogans, narrate the presence of the book in the context of life, as if book and reading is an integral part of life. Therefore, it is not exaggerated if we know Mostafa Mastor as a writer who promotes "reading" with his stories and call him a “reading promoter”.
